Youth Allowance & Claiming Tax Deductions
As a result of a High Court decision on 11 November 2010, you may be eligible to claim a deduction for your study expenses if you received youth allowance to study full-time.
If you were eligible for a deduction in the years 2007, 2008, 2009 or 2010 the Australian Taxation Office will be writing to advise you that they will be amending your assessment(s). You will receive a letter from the ATO between 1 March 2011 and 30 April 2011.
